Coach House

Coach House is a new-build home in New Cross, slotted into a plot just 3.4 metres wide between existing terraces. The front elevation reads the rhythm of the street — cornices, ledges, three horizontal bands stepping out as the storeys rise — built from reclaimed brick piers and full-height glazing, with the same materials carried round to the rear.

Upstairs, four bedrooms sit either side of a feature staircase lit by a large rooflight, its open treads letting light filter straight through the house. Downstairs, the living space is sunk below the main floor level for a more intimate feel, with a high-level ribbon window keeping the sky and treetops in view.
